Feeding Question!

When I measured her after the shed, I found that she was SIXTEEN inches. I was like, "Whoa! Fast-growing snake!" Then when I fed her today, the lump from her usual one pinkie was barely distending her belly at all! After a few minutes, it was nearly indistinguishable from the rest of her!

Is it normal to move on to more prey items this soon? At what length do corns usually end up eating more? Also, do I feed less often this way?

.
If the snake is currently on pink's, shed and now has no buldge, I would try 2 pink's per feeding until the size of a fuzzie is 1-1.5 times the girth of the snake.
.
You can feed fuzzies every 5 days, when you move up to hoppers you can do it every 7 days, and we tend to feed adults every 10 days.

Also remember that sheds stretch during the shedding process, so the skin is going to be longer than the actual snake. I still agree that it's time to move up. Yes, they do grow very quickly.

I'm kinda in the same boat.I was thinking I was going to move up to fuzzys, because we are doing the 2 pinkie meal,BUT today when I was at the store to get them,,I opted for the pinkies again.
The fuzzys just seem so big compaired to my little snakes head and neck.I will probally stick to the 2 pinkie meal for a while.

If two pinkies isn't leaving a very big bulge, or it is gone within 24 hours, then go ahead and move up. Fuzzies may seem huge, but you will be surprised at how much the snake's mouth and neck can stretch to accomodate it.

i recently "bumped" into a guy at a skate shop with a snake being housed in the store. he keeps underfeeding it with small prey. he's feeding it often, so he's not really underfeeding it. but it's harder on it's digestive system to be constantly going rathern than have it's usual larger prey less often. anyway, my point, if i can actually make one, is that snakes can eat a lot bigger than you'd think. fuzzies have a bit more fur, so they seem a lot bigger than pinkies as well. i'd try one small fuzzie, just to see. but, it's your snake, and you have to learn to make your own judgements. don't offer it if you really think it is too big. general rule is to go with the thickness of the largest part of the snake.

cheers! :santa:

You could ask for "peach fuzzies" which are smaller than white fuzzies. I know exactly what you guys mean about fuzzies being a big step up from pinks. Choco and Zee and Addy should all be getting fuzzies, but Zee is the only one I don't worry about. Addy has the biggest girth, though is the same weight as Choco, but I have to assist-feed her, and it's hard enough getting a pink down. But maybe a small fuzzy would be easier because its skull wouldn't be so mushy. I don't know. Choco wavers between two pinks and a small fuzzy. I hold him up next to the bag of assorted mice and pick the one that seems like just big enough, without being ridiculous.
