Feeding schedule for Pythons

I have 2 pythons one is a female and one is a male 7 and 8 years old, we have only had them a couple of weeks and would like to know how often they need to be fed we have got them both to eat 2 f/t mice each (about 20g ish). How often do they need to feed I read somewhere it is every week is this correct.

I breed my own mice at the moment and would also like to know if I need to start breeding rats for these instead.
