Feeding time at our place has always been interesting and now with 6 snakes its becoming an adventure. We check who is in blue and what size food item. Our little freak snake has always been an on again off again feeder and has never eaten two times in a row. This is our Lavender Nathair. He is not a social guy and tries to get away any time he is handled.
his last feeding he was defensive and struck a few times but did not bite. We had finally decided to put him in a small container with his food in an attempt to get him to eat on a more consistent basis. So a little fight we calmed him down then into the container and he ate.
Last night he was armed and ready for us. He tried to strike, rattled the tail and even musked my daughter as we got him into the container. He almost escaped to freedom but I managed to get a hand on him before he he exited stage left.
Once in the container he went back into his tank which we covered up. I fully expected him not to eat and to sit all night in the little container. I peeked a few times and he was trying his best to get out and had not eaten. A few hours later I checked and he had finally eaten Woo Hoo!!! finally two feedings in a row!!!. We were so excited!!!
We are working so hard to try to tame out little freak beast snake!!
P.S. Big Red has settled in well and had his first meal!! I have some arrival pictures on my phone and will get those posted soon. We have only handled him once and he has been great with us. He is a very curious guy.
P.P.S. Mickey has eaten twice now and is such a pleasure! He is our teeny chill guy and loves to just hang out with us.
