SOME people say not to feed the snake in its cage. I happen to be one of them. You will run the risk of the snake ingesting the substrate and getting an impaction. And the snake might associate the cage door opening with feeding - and will mistake your hand as food. The alternative is to take the snake out of its cage, place it in a feeding container (anything from a carboard box to a bucket to a tupperware) and feed it in there. The snake will associate the feeding container with food and not your hand.Specter_Blue said:wow, thats alot of links *gulp*.... i have been poking around the husbandry section, and i havent seen this covered yet (although im sure it is somewhere): i heard people say you should never feed ur snake in its cage. why is this? and what is the alternative? I know some people feed by hand (i guess u just let the mouse sit on ur open palm so the snake doesnt snag a finger?) do most people feed by hand? im new to this, so most of u know the questions im trying to ask even if i dont get em out there right :-D
