The way our schedule works, Tuesday is our lazy day. We get up late, I make a nice breakfast (bacon, eggs and hashbrowns today) then head to the livingroom for a second cup of coffee and chatting with my hubby.

Well today, we walk into the livingroom but something is wrong. The screen lid of a tank is caved in and the cat is acting a little too innocent.

Im freaking out, were going out of town in 2 days and he's been loose in the room with the cat for who knows how long, could have been since last night. We tore the livingroom apart and finally decided we'd have to lift the sofa-bed, or rather my husband would have to so I could look under it. And wouldn't you know it, there's Blaze curled up under the sofa-bed freezing cold. Hubby warmed him up while I fixed the screen. Blaze is back in his hide after taking a quick bath, apparently he felt dirty cuz he still wasn't too warm.

So much for a relaxing day, but at least he's safe. And the cat has lost his livingroom privileges.

I am glad you found him too! We had one of our fat cats cave in a screen top. No escape and it was on one of our adults. We fixed it to where the cats cant get ontop anymore

I have cats too and it makes it very hard for me to get my snakes out. I have to be very careful b/c my tanks are low to the ground and I sit on the floor and hold the snake higher up and every once in a while the cat will try and bat at the snake. I didn't think they would find them quite as interesting as they do. Or that at least they would get used to them, but that isn't going to change.

When we had a majority of the snakes in Sterilite, our cat would regularly lay on top of the totes. She would tip them over on occasion getting off, creating a huge mess with litter and spilled water bowls :/ All but two of our snakes are in aquariums now, and situated so it's difficult for the cat to get on top of them. We did, however, leave a bit of a lip on the shelf for a few of the snakes so she can lay in front of the vivs and watch them.

It's mostly feeding time we have to watch her. She's constantly on the prowl for us to drop a f/t treat for her ;) I don't think she'd have the slightest clue what to do with it though (she's pretty useless at hunting/catching anything...we resorted to buying traps for our kitchen since she was more inclined to watch the mouse creep over to the water bowl and drink rather than actually catch it)

If you know how to use a rivet gun, it comes in handy when fixing a screen top or making one stronger. Just put some rivets around the screen top. Makes the cover pretty much impossible for a cat to fall through.

Oh goodness, my cat just did the same thing. Caved in a wonderful tank lid and RobZombie was nowhere to be found. After a night of looking, he was curled up under a suitcase in my closet. We got a new tank top, one made of steel this time, so Sam's bulky body won't be breaking it anymore.

But I'm so glad your snake was ok! I don't know what I'd do if I had to leave for a few days with my little guy in the house alone with our cats! I know it wouldn't be a pretty sight when I returned!

I was pretty worried about having to leave him loose in the house. But the cat wouldnt have been my biggest worry, hes stuck in the extra room when were away because he's not trustworthy. He gets up to all kinds of shenanigans.

That's what cats are best at, lol! getting into shenanigans!

Mine spilled my coffee all over the floor today running all around and chasing each other with no respect for anything! Flying all over my new leather furniture and all the while I'm thinking STOP! I'm sure their back toenails will soon be seen on my couches. I love them though, so I put up with them. They were extra wild today.
