Female needs extra fat for breeding ?

I have a female corn which is about 4 years old. Her weight is about 520 g. She has a good shape and is not fat at all. Now I plan to use her for a breeding project in about 2-3 months time. Is it advisable to feed her more than usual ( at the moment a 40 - 50 g mouse every 8-10 days ) so she can build up some fat reserves ?

I am new to breeding so any suggestion will be most welcome :)
 
You're probably already at the top end of her healthy feeding schedule and she's a good size, so I wouldn't advise increasing food intake. If she doesn't become gravid then you could end up with a tubby snake, which would be bad for next year's breeding plans.

Once you've confirmed that she's gravid you might find that she goes off her food as the eggs develop (nearer laying). At that point, try offering smaller food than usual. If they refuse (and not all do) it's because the eggs are taking up too much room inside her and she can't digest large mice any more. Small mice and even fuzzies, might still be managable and could keep her eating for a couple of weeks longer than she'd be inclined to.
