1. ) I plan to breed a 520 g female corn to a 150 g male. Is there any danger the lady will take him for a meal ?

2.) How should I put them together ? The female into the male's viv or is the other way round better ? Or perhaps use a neutral place ?

3.) How long does it usually take for the male to do his job ?

1) Not sure I'd put snakes with that sort of size difference together. However the danger is that the smaller one might come off worse if mating gets rough. Cannibalism is unlikely. As long as you stay with them throughout, you can be ready to separate them if necessary.

2) I'd go for neutral territory, then neither snake feels like they have "property to defend".

3) Depends on whether both snakes are immediately receptive. Sometimes it's immediate, sometimes it can take several tries over a few weeks. Sometimes (although rarely) the pair prove completely uninterested in each other and nothing happens, ever.

Your best chance to get the male in the mood is to intruduce them when the female has just shed. She gives off a higher dose of the "come and get it" pheramones at that point.
 
I would not feel comfortable with pairing two snakes that have such a big size difference. There's a guy on here who lost two males this year, but I cannot find the thread. I think one female ate the male with her, & the other female just killed the male with her.
 
It's a little late in the season to be trying to breed corn snakes. Most people are starting to have eggs hatch. There are some good books on breeding corn snakes that would answer your questions.

I don't know of any occurences of cannibalism with adult corn snakes.
 
I agree with Tim. I doubt that the female will be receptive to any advances from the male. More than likely they will just ignore each other. The only time I ever saw a corn snake try to eat another was when they were eating the same mouse from opposite ends.
 
All bets may be off, he is in thailand, you never know, his snakes might want to breed. Although I wouldn't try with a male that small and a female that large. :D

Yes, I think my snakes want to breed, no worries ;-) we live in a tropical climate. But you are right, perhaps I better give the boy a bit more time to grow up to his task.:dancer: I am in no hurry. ...lol
