They are not old enough to mate yet, but just because they *shouldnt* mate until they are three feet or more doesn't mean they cant or won't. Plenty of corns under three feet and very young have accidently gotten pregnant.
But my point though is who cares about the breeding reasons, when there are even more important reasons for keeping them alone...i.e. stress...slim chance of cannabilisim, sickness being passed, not knowing who did what, etc. I would not keep my snakes together as I like to keep accurate records, and healthy stress free animals.
I am sorry the breeder told you that. A good breeder recomends eahc young corn have its own cage, as this works out the best in almost every single case. Especially with new corns.
