Finally got my first baby corn :)

cohazard

corn snake noob!
I checked out a local petco to see the snakes, I've

I never planned to buy a corn from them, but when I looked at their corn snakes I felt bad.

They had a bunch of babies all couped up in a 10g with no hides so they were crowding underneath their water dish.

I asked if I could hold them and this was my first time holding a baby corn, or reallly, any snake at all.

When I reached in, a baby normal and a baby okeet started striking at me and I felt a small tag for the first time, it was cool! :)

The snakes seemed healthy, and a baby amel caught my attention. It had more red than the other baby amel in the tank, and it was the first baby I picked up.

It was calm, but active and alert. My heart sank and I said "I'll take it!"

Anyways, here is my yet to be named baby amel :) I didn't want to stress it too much so I took two photos only.

It hid right away under the aspen. After an hour, it came out and climbed the wood/plant decor and hid in the leaves:

Just now it came out of hiding and is exploring the 40g tank, I will be getting more decor tomorrow.

haha thank you Toshiro, I'm super excited about this little thing. It would've been nice to get one from a breeder to know the sex, but I might be able to take it to amazon reptiles to get it sexed.

I've got some ideas but one of them was already used by another user haha I was thinking 'Indy" short for my favorite film character who has a fear of snakes :grin01:

Another idea I thought of is Milho Vermelho (red corn in portugese) but I realized it sounds too close to Milli Vanilli :roflmao:

Thankfully my synapses were firing correctly before deciding on that one but I still want to name him either a Portuguese or Japanese name. :)

aww....he's awesome! Congratulations!
Beautiful baby you have there:)

So, now all you have to do is set up more vivs for #'s 2 and 3:rofl:.....because one's never enough..lol.....welcome to you new addiction:roflmao:

He's just adorable!

Thank you LBoz, I think so too :) I can't wait to show his head pattern, it looks like he has a mickey mouse on it :roflmao:

Very true! I can't seem to get sterilite tubs out of my mind haha

I couldn't make up my mind what kind of corn I wanted... I still want a blizzard and a blood red, and an amel stripe, and a butter mot, and...

I guess the only cure for my aquarium addiction is a vivarium addiction lol

Congrats on the cutie. If he has a mickey mouse pattern, name him mouse in Portuguese (I don't know what it is, but I am sure you can find it). I like ironic names...

Cute amel enjoy your new baby

Thank you susang, I will :) It's hard seeing him curled up in his plant and not reaching in to pick him up, but I want to be sure he's settled, plus I will try feeding him tomorrow, so I'll be waiting at least another 4 days. :(

Cool snake!

Thanks! I wanted to start with something less common like a blood red hypo, or a sunglow, but this little amel is cool too :)

My dream corn is an opal :spinner:

that's a great idea! but mouse is 'rato' in portugese, I'm looking for a portugese word that makes sense, but doesn't sound too close to english.

I thought of naming him after a character from one of my favorite foreign films "Ciudad de Deus" 'City of God', some of the names I had in mind were: Rocket, Tiago, Ben'e, Z'e pequeno :D

good stuff, I only have one, and thats gonna have to do for now cause my mom wont let have more then one haha, plus I have a leopard gecko...

Thats a nice lookign snake though
