Finally I can say I have a collection (DuW)

What's This?
lol, not much of a collection, only two snakes, a snow corn and a red tail boa... I just got the rtb tonight when I went to the store. I was amazed at the saddles on this one, they remain bold on basically the entirety of its body. I haven't gotten it sexed, but I will when I feel that it's necessary. Anyways, the pictures... and it's only baout 20" long so a late 06 id assume

Happy to hear that. congrats, just make sure you keep that boa in good humidity. I was going to get one at the store because she was so adorable but I picked up a boa book instead and read it for about 20 minutes and decided I just cant put that much effort into her at the time (school, work, etc) So anyways just make sure you take care of it and again congrats, i hope all goes well.

Congrats on your new baby Boa! I picked up my pastel at a show a year ago, hard to believe I have had her that long already! Mine has been such a joy and I am sure yours will be as well. They grow so fast, mine had her first jumbo rat last month and boy was that a honker! And by the way the husbandry is not that difficult. My Ball gives me more stress than I believe my Boa ever will!

Congratulations Again :)

Nice boa what locality is it? Looks like an unusual find in a petstore.

And is it just me or is your corn more of an opal and NOT a snow? It also looks a little on the skinny side, have you had feeding issues?

I agree...looks like it is or has some Central American going on...Nicaragua perhaps?

Very pretty whatever s/he is!

It's a Central American, you guys are good, I couldnt really tell much of a difference. I have seen a little difference in temperment in terms of it being a little iffy on being handled. I know I have to handle it constantly. As for humidity, that's absoultely no problem in florida most the time... And i'm going to stick a humid hide in the tank anyways.

As for the corn, he is skinny, but I'm feeding him two pinkies 2 days after he dficates. Everytime I try to move to fuzzies he regurges it, I'm starting to think ofjust moving to three pinkies but I dont know if thatd be too much. So it isnt a matter of him not taking the food as much as it is him not keeping it down..

also, he was sold to me as a snow, but I've always thought he had something else in him because he's very pink, and has the lavendar saddles that are quite prominent.

Woohoo! Do I win a prize?! =D

I love Nics...their saddle patterns and darker coloration is just beautiful...=)

haha, your prize is the satifaction of being able to pick out the locality of red tails as if it were a sixth sense. Congrats!

That says it all - hes an opal IMO

Have you tried to figure out WHY hes regurging? He looks like he can definitely do with a few fuzzies in him. Try upping the temperatures in his tank/tub to 86/87 (if they are not already that high). Those temps will aid digestion a bit.

Is he a consecutive regurger? If so you REALLY need to get to the route of the problem.

Again, nice CAB

not consecutive, I'll try upping the temps a bit. It simply depends on the size of the mouse. I'll get a fuzzy next time I'm at the store and see if he regurges with the new temps.. And I'm completely fine with him being an opal. When I'm out of this house and have my own place I'll definitely start breeding projects and test him to see what he may be het for.. or homogenous for that matter :D

Don't you mean homozygous? LOL And the only thing something's homozygous for is what it is (if yours is an opal, it's homozygous for the opal trait), if you're not joking. ;)

I think what YOU mean to say is that if he is an opal, he is homozygous for amel and lavender :grin01:

sorry, i was getting my chemistry and genetics mixed up... homogenous mixtures and homozygous for a gene.. It's been a while since I took biology and I've taken two consecutive years of chem, I think i could get a little slack :D
