Hi, I've got a female snow corn who laid about 15 eggs the other day (Saturday, I believe). I had the flu, so I didn't check on them Friday (I've got lots of other snakes, and of course, their food items (rats)).
Anyway, they were kinda wrinkly, but look like they are fertile when compared with other pics I've seen here. There were two or three slugs (small/misshapen/yellow - one of which was separated=tossed).
After two days in a home-made incubator, they are still wrinkly. Is that normal, and/or healthy? My humidity gauge says 85%. I hear everything between 60 and 100%, but for now it has to do (I can't find vermiculite anywhere in town, and I'm waiting on a shipment of HatchRite).
Also, the temp is fairly steady (+/- 1.5*F) at 82.5. Does it need to be more constant? I know with pythons too much variance can affect the clutch viability and health of hatchlings.
I have a proportional thermostat ordered, and it should be here tomorrow or the next day.
I didn't think she was gravid, as she didn't get too chubby (she was a tad thin to start with), and I wasn't sure if she took in the first place.
I also didn't expect the eggs this soon, though as I read more, I see it's normal, though on the early end (she is a proven breeder '01/'02).
So, long story shortened, I'd appreciate any suggestions, proven strategies, and advice you'd like to share! Thanks in advance!!
