First Corn escape

I still have my Hypo charcoal in quarantine and was due to put her in the snake room yesterday I was rather busy putting finishing touches on my snake rack so I didn't get to it. She was in a 10 Gal tank mesh lid with with a screen clip on every corner They hold the lid down very tightly, but I stack a couple books anyhow. I went to put her in her new permanent home and she was gone. I had her tank sitting on an old computer desk the desk has other items on it. knowing from rat snakes they rarely go far in the first few hours I lifted a small trinket box that was touching the tank and there she was coiled up. I have been lucky to find all my escaped snakes most times just inches from the there tanks. but always within an hours search time.

Phew! Lucky for you! I was holding my breath until I finished reading your post. I'm still traumatized by the TEN hour search we had to find our snow corn hatchling. They don't have a Houdini reputation for nothing! Weather stripping is my friend. So glad your escape ended well!

If they find the way out once they will remember how, I have a kingsnake that has outsmarted two types of feeding tubs so far. Books on top of a lid are not always going to keep in a determined snake, either. If a snake can get out of a cage with 4 clips on lid, it might be time to find a better lid for it.

Yeah the lid on this one is the standard screen mesh type I just don't see how she lifter the lid with clips and the books stacked on it. she is only about 3.5 months old she shouldn't be that strong yet. I used that tank to quarantine her in I always cut the to lip off because I know they can get up on it and leverage there way out. She is now in my rack there is no possible way out of that. All the lids roll over the edge of the tubs and the fit between the top and bottom of the racks shelving is snug.

So glad you found your snake. Its such scary experience. Mine has been gone for two days now and I swear I've looked everywhere. In, on, and under everything imaginable. Even places I know are impossible. Shes one of my favorites too. Hoping I find et when I least expect it.

I hope you find your little friend it is scary when there missing and if you have had it long enough heartbreaking my room is sealed so it would never be able to leave the room. But still having it out and causes worry. Have you tried the tip in these forums there are many good ones here
