First corn snake

Lk22

New member
I just got my first corn snake yesterday. I was told by the pet store she needs to eat so I kept her in the small container and fed her a pinky that she ate right away. I put her in the viv that I put together for her and so far there is no regurgatation, but I am getting kinda impatient because I want to handle her. How long should I wait??

normally i wouldnt have fed her for a couple days, they can go for weeks without feeding. and to be honest i wouldnt handle for just under a week or so. let her settle in her viv and know that shes safe.
hope this helps

Agreed...Since she just came home and now she just ate..You should wait at least 9 days before trying to handle her so as not to stress her out and to make sure her meal is properly digested..good luck with your new snake :0)

Is that bad?

The pet store told me that they had forgotten to feed her 2 weeks in a row and they werent sure if she had eaten the week before?? Is it a bad sign that she eat right away? I have been checking her viv and from just peeking in she hasn't regurgitated her food? any advice on if I should wait after the nine days to feed her or change her water??? Thank You for all of your advice!!

Since you fed her a pink, I am assuming she is fairly young and small. Therefore, she should probably be eating every 4-5 days.

You should change her water every other day. You should be able to do this without taking her out of the viv.

Firstly, the pet shop sounds crap!

Secondly. Ideally you would give the snake 5-7 days to settle in to its new home before feeding. But now its been fed, id give it a good 7 days to let it digest and settle in. :)
