First Corn

You need a thermostat or a dimmer for the UTH or it will get too hot for your corn. I cheapest thing to do is get a plug-in lamp dimmer at home depot and adjust the temperature with that. You'll need a probe thermometer to measure the hot spot on the glass over the UTH. I use this: http://www.bigappleherp.com/Big-Apple-Deluxe-Thermometers-Humidity-Gauges

And here is the lamp dimmer: http://www.homedepot.com/buy/lighti...-lamp-dimmer-with-nightlight-white-51765.html

The temperature should be around 85 degrees. And you should tape the UTH on to that tank instead of using the adhesive because it's easier to eventually move to a bigger vivarium that way.

Thanks! Should I tape it with duct tape or something else?

I have temp and humidity gauges in my apt. so I can control the environment. Also you'll be needing a water dish, plastic dog dishes work well or ceramic, something that can't get knocked over.

Duct tape is okay, or if you have foil tape that is better. Ambient humidity is usually okay for corns but it's a good idea to bump it up while they are in shed.

Depends on where you live. When I was in Colorado it was so dry I had to mist them daily. Or you can put their water dishes over the warm spot to release more humidity. Only problem with that us you will need a bigger bowl and you will have to fill it up more frequently.

Yea, it is pretty dry still. I might do both, thanks for the idea!

Go to home depot or lowe's or call the local hardware store they probably carry it. Foil tape is heat resistant and shiny like foil. You don't want to the temp gauge falling away from the tank and picking up room temp, it can cause the cage/snake to cook.
