First feed at home

Evening,

I fed my corn snake a pinky yesterday afternoon and could easily see the bulge for several hours after but today there is nothing.. I am unsure of its age but can say it is roughly 13/14 inches long and is this years hatchlings.

Just a couple of questions if I may..

Could it be that one pinky isn't enough or is digestion that quick?

Kel is very active this evening, moving, climbing etc, would it be ok to handle him/her tonight?

We brought it home on Friday but I haven't found any poo inside it's enclosure yet, is this normal?

These question may appear basic but I have never owned a snake before and I have so much to learn

Thanks

You should wait a full two days before handling. He/she could still have some in its stomach. Mine only poops like once a week sometimes more.

Settling in suggestions. I personally don't handle babies until they've digested for three days. He probably will poop sometime in the next couple days. It may be small and difficult to spot.

And a link to my care sheet, since you say this is your first snake.

Thank you for your replies :)

I noticed today what looked like a white powder on the floor of the viv and after scooping it out realised that it was a hard lump, any ideas?

The care sheet was very helpful, thanks

That is uria (urate? Urine... but snake "urine") :p that means s/he is drinking and passing liquid, which is good!
Normally for a first feed you'd want to have a little smaller-than-usual food item, just in case there are any issues. If you feel the mouse was too small, you can try a small fuzzie, or two pinkies. Here is a link to the Munson Feeding Chart - which several corn owners use as a guide line for their feedings.

If you don't have a scale, I strongly suggest you get one (can be found at any big box store; a digital kitchen scale for around $10) as they are more reliable than just age and length measuring.
If not, for the time being just feed to 1-1.5X the widest part of the snake's body :)

Good luck!
