First Handling!!

Original & Best
Today I got Travis out for the first time! it had been a couple days and I thought i'd try and handle him for only 5 mins or so, At first he was a bit 'Ooer here he comes again where my hide?!' When I picked it up (I read that some people handle rather disturb during the day, then they have the evenings to themselves to explore).
Anyway I picked him up wearing a glove (I read that somewhere too, thought it was a good idea).

I then took him out and he was trying to get away, but not as fast as I thought, he was flicking his tongue the whole time getting used to my scent, then slowed down started exploring my arm, I took the glove off, i didn't need it anymore.
I'm so happy now, 'scuse my soppiness but it did feel really intimate. we had a 'moment' It was kinda like holding a newborn baby for the first time. Not a lot compares. :D

hehe sounds like you had fun...even if they try to run away when you pick them up they usually calm down when they're out of their viv.

Good for you. I would ditch the glove though. I think someone suggested that because a hatchling was bity. Plus them babies feel like silk so it's cool to experience that :D

Yeah, the glove was only because I wasn't sure whether he would bite or not, as soon as I got him out I took it off, and he was all silky smooth :D

:-offtopic I am unsure whether Trav is a normal or not, he was sold as a normal, but didn't look like a normal hatchling,
Going by descriptions, he sounds like a hypo, he's a couple months old, and doesn't have belly markings, and very thin (not really visible) black bands around maroon saddles or an orange background. What does he sound like? It's not hugely important but I really want to know!

I've just been looking at some of the hatchlings on Kathy Love's site, to compare mine to get an idea of what he may be, He's definately not a Normal.
There's a hypo that looks similar, But do hypo's have a checkered belly?, because mine does not, There is also a Bloodred on there - that has a striking resemblance to mine and doesn't have belly markings. Looks a LOT like mine.

Would be amazing to buy what I thought was a normal and find it's a Bloodred eh(!)

hehe Travis will poke his head out of his cork bark hide for hours during the day, He was out all evening - Hes getting used to me now, I was in my room talking to mum quietly and he came out all on his own when usually he'd wait til it was silent, I think the handling earlier in the day definately helped. Usually he'd stay still if we entered and flee to his hide.

He's gone back to bed for a while for now though lol.
