first pippie ever but what is it??

The aner could be a DARK ghost, BUTcheck theshed skin. If you can see the outline of the blotches in the shed skin (i.e., there is melanin in the shed skin), it is not any form of hypo. If the shed skin looks exactly like the shed skin of an albino (clear with no melanin), then it is some form of hypo. Easy test!

On the amel, can you get a macro of the head? It is hard to see much on such a small image.

Does any one know why that #3 has such snow white white on it? I find it very eye appealing.
Some one thought the male candy cane might be het for anery? I sure hope thats not true. From what i read about Rich's candy canes 25 yrs ago he used the miami phase and thru select breeding got the candy cane amels.
Have a good one all...

The whiter back ground is just a different look on a different snake. my ultramels have high white. I t6hink it's because the mother is a very extreme RO, so maybe the candycane is affecting the coloration slightly in a few hatchlings.

As for the father being het anery, that doesn't make sense, unless you had very bad luck and missed the 50% chnace of getting a hatchling homo for anery. it's possible that he's het anery, but very doubtful, but as we've seen genes do pop up out of nowhere every once and a while. I doubt you beat the odds though. No het anery there.

Thank you very much for your post Turner, i appreciate it much. I am lost on this gentics stuff. Not even sure what a hypo is. I do like the term high white tho and i think it could be applied to this hatchling.(#3) Thanks again..

yes, thank you :) they are such wonderful babies... most are happy just to be out and hand around your hands... well, except #5 who is like his/her dad... straight out and wanting to gooooo LOL I have sexed 1 & 2 ... one girl, one boy... now if I could only get those 2 to eat! 3,4 & 5 are all eating well but 1 & 2 are being little stinkers!

"Hypo", as a prefix, means "less" or "lower". In this case, it's short for hypomelanistic, meaning having less melanin, the substance causing the color black. Hypo corn snakes have their black reduced both in quantity and in intensity, the color replaced by shades of grey or brown.
