First Reptile Show EVER

Wow! I attended one of the bi-annual reptile shows here in Austin, Texas and it was AMAZING. Now I can see why you guys encourage everyone with any interest to go. The people were all incredibly enthusiastic, talkative, passionate, and friendly. I picked up a water bowl and two hides for $5 . . . then I saw him!

Wonderful little butter motley stripe whom I got an INCREDIBLE . . . I mean, under $30 deal on. He's been out exploring all afternoon. Will post some pics in a few days after he gets some time to settle in.

So happy!

Also, if someone with more knowledge sees this . . . What's the difference between a stripe and a motley stripe? Do they look physically difference or is the difference hidden in the genes?

both, somewhat.

Stripe and Motley share the same locus.

++ = Wildtype...looks Normal
+m = het motley...looks Normal
+s = het stripe...looks Normal
mm = Motley...looks Motley
ss = Stripe...looks Stripe
ms = Motley/Stripe. These usually look anything from completely motley, to motley with elongated dashes, to nearly full pinstripe. The motley/stripe is technically het for motley and stripe, since there is only 1 allele for each on the same locus. Often these are sold as "motley het stripe". A motley with a pinstripe looks different than what a stripe would, usually seen in the widths of the stripes.

However, I often try to clarify from the seller the genetics of anything that is sold as motley stripe. Because this could be referring to the genetic "ms" motley/stripe scenario.... But I've also seen it used to describe a motley "mm" that had a pinstripe, yet was genetically all motley.
