Hi
I'm about to get my first snake and at first I didn't know what kind of snake I was going to get but after reading these forums I think I'm going to get a corn
but any way I don't know much about how to take care of a corn snake
I have looked at websites and know a flew things if any one could help me with some tips on taking care of corn snakes

I love snakes I have always loved snakes but I'm 15 now and I wasn't really able to pay or take care of one before

And mostly why I'm writing this message is I don't want to kill it by doing somthing wrong so if you could give me some tips about corn snakes or any kind of snakes that would be very nice
thanks
:)

First thing you should do before buying anything is buy the cornsnake manual. You should beable to find it at a petstore or even a bookstore. Read the book cover to cover twice then come back on and ask as many questions as ya want GL :)

Yes reading the "Corn Snake Manuel" will benefit you a lot.
Other than going to the pet shops or other places, you can also go to the author's homepage (which they also sell a lot of corns and other snakes themselves)
go to
www.corn-utopia.com and you'll be able to go to Bill and Kathy Loves page. In there you'll find corn snakes information and the book

Other than the book, remember to come here often and ask questions if you have any at all. Just ask and people here with tons of experience will help you through.

Good Luck and Happy Herping!

Hi, I'm 15 too :)
I agree. The Corn Snake Manual will answer 98% of your questions and it's is a great, great book.
And the people here will gladly help you if you have any other questions.
Good luck!

will it tell me about all the types

will the book tell me about all the types of corn snakes
and the genetics of all of it
just reading some of the posts about it is giving me a headache

Yes, the book will tell you about most of the morphs and the genetics behind it all. However, there have been new developments in the corn world since that book came out, so some of the newer things might not be in there.
There will be a new CSM coming out in a few years, but don't wait for that one to come out. THis is definitely something that you need right away if you are interested in getting corns.

:)

one thing to consider

if you are planning on going to college and living in a dorm, you may not be able to bring a snake with you. Especialy one with a large tank and mice that may need a freezer (most dorms have communal fridges, and most people would either steal your mice or be so disgusted that they may throw them away) so if your mom/dad/sibling/friend ect... wouldn't mind pet sitting for a year or two then you don't have a problem, hwever it is rare that moms and dads are snake friendly and I don't have many friends that I would trust to care for my snakes....

Just a thought, I would hate for you to have to chose between college and your corns...

all readly have a plan for that

my friend's mom is giving her an apartment for free!!!
and I'm going to be her roomate
and if that does work I will figure it out
