Here are some pics of my girls having their first rat meals. For Matami (motley) it was actually her 2nd time, but lavender was a first-timer. And boy-o-boy did I have to tease her with the rat pup!!! :)

nothing says yummy like a rat pup! not that i would know. but all the countless corn snakes just cant be wrong! Also nice photos!
 
Cor that looks so big! It really amazes me watching them gulf down such big meals whole.

I haven't feed my corn yet. Due for it's first feed on Friday.
 
Even in the side shot it still looks big to me. Although saying that I've only ever bought pinkies so I guess it would look big!
 
Quite understandable. How old is your corn?

10% of the snake's body weight is a good size for a meal. If a snake is small for it's age 15% is ok to make it grow a bit faster. So make sure you won't stick with pinkies for too long. :)
 
I only bought it last week. The guy in the shop said It's three months old.

The guy at the store said I should move up when I can't see a bulge in it's belly after eating, would you say that was a good enough indication or are there signs before it gets that far?

Better signs are a calculator (10-15% of the snakes weight) and comparing the mouse to the thickest part of the snake's body. The mouse should be as thick as the snake's thickest part.

If the pinky feels too small but the snake isn't yet ready to move up for a bigger food, it's good to give two pinkies. First you can give him two pinkies every other feeding time (and then keep a bit longer rest for digestion) and one pinky every other time. Then you can move up to two pinkies every time, and keep that going untill he's redy to move up.-
