Fishing, spining reel advice/suggestion needed

I want to buy a new spining reel that can take a 16 to 20 pound line and that is not huge and super heavy any advice on what to buy.

Hmmm

I use mostly Shimano spinning reels, most models come with two spools so you can line up different pound test on each. That pound test you are talking about though, is more for ocean fishing.I would use good quality 8 pound for those type of fish. The only time you will need anything 16 pound is for catching catfish that are 20 to 50 pounds.I use 20 pound test for Yellowtail, which is the toughest fighting fish in the ocean pound or pound.

i fish for bass and walleye and i really have never used anything higher than 8lb test. you can just hit up your local sports store and find something. right now im on the agenda of only fly fishing this year and getting better at it. but id go with shimano as you can get a good priced quality reel.

I have no "reel" advice, but best of luck with your fishing endeavors this year.

I was unable to go Bass fishing at all last year, and I'm determined to get out there this year and do it. I primarily do Trout fishing, so I did a ton of that last year, and expect the same this year as well, but Bass fishing is just SO much fun.

Be calm, be patient, be quiet.
Small mouth more open water, largemouth shallow cover (think weeds, tree roots, slower moving areas). Its been a while since I've been on the water, but this year I'm buying a canoe...so excited. XD

Lol, I was going to say, I only have one rod set up with 20# and that's my big ocean rod that I use for Tarpon or high shark populated areas. My other two ocean rods are set up with 17# Cajun Line. I have a spool of 8# for lake fishing that I have yet to do. Being so close to the ocean with only one lake, the ocean won. Now I'm surrounded by lakes so will give that a few tries before looking for a new ocean spot.
Has anyone tried the rubber crawlers that come in a jar of liquid scent? I noticed them in passing, and was wondering if anyone tested them against live?

No exactly, I have try the Swimming Mullet gulp alive i bought the Small Bucket they worked better than the unscented.

I've always had a lot of success, bass fishing with black rubber worms. What I want to try using in the future, however, is an insect that's used very successfully by a lot of people. They're called Helgramites, and supposedly they make the perfect bait for bass fishing. They can be found in most areas. In streams, brooks, rivers, and near the edge of the water in those areas.

Anyone else use these?
