Flash Photography

One of the regular vendors at our local reptile expo always makes a big deal about telling people not to photograph her reptiles with flash. She has mostly snakes and a few lizards.

I've wanted to ask this since I went to the first expo back in April and I'm just now getting around to it. :)

What's wrong with flash, and why is this one vendor the only one who's against it? :shrugs:

Whats worng with it is it can sometimes startle and frighten the animals and if they are in a dark room and their eyes are adjusted to the light it can hurt them just like it hurts us. :). I just choose places were there is enough light where I don't need a flash they also get wierd eye refelctions too. :)
