ok ive searched the forums and im having a hard time finding a post on Flies im tried of finding flies in my snake tub's and the little gnats or fruit flies' how do you get rid of them? i think I saw something about apple cider vinegar I have some of that in a 20 oz pop bottle on top of my rack doesnt seem to be working. and suggestions pls.

They eat mold and fungus. The are often found around potted house plants that are kept too moist. In the reptile room they often come with Cypress Mulch, Coconut husk bedding, Bed-a-Beast, that kind of thing that may be a little moist and likely to grow fungus.

At egg time, moss in the nest boxes might be the culprit.

Vancouver had a REALLY bad fruit fly problem when our civic strike was on, no matter where you lived or how far away from the garbage piles you were, the flies were everywhere.

I took a cup and put some of the most disgustingly sweet liquor I had in the bottom - a fruity syrupy sweet apple liquor that was pretty much undrinkable.

I mixed a little water in it too.

I covered the top of the cup with plastic wrap, with an elastic around it so it wouldn't come off, and poked a hole in the middle. The flies could get in, but had a really hard time getting out. And they loved the stuff! I'd always wake up to more flies in the cup. Sometimes I'd have to swish it around to get the flies walking around the inside of the cup, but most of them drowned on their own.

You can also change the substrate to paper towel until you have it under control, what are you using? Aspen is a great substrate that most of the people here use.
