fluid filled lump!

my friend has just phoned me about his corn snake, he wonders is there a problem? he described to me that he has noticed a build up of fluid to the side of the vent under the skin, about an inch long by 1/4 inch wide. the snake is not concerned when its touched. she is about 5 years old and due to shed in a few days. there is no odor or seapage. has anyone got any ideas??????? :shrugs:
 
yeah. Visit a vet. This sounds like someone with a diploma should see and handle. These things often seem like nothing now but can suddenly because a healt hazzard. And i have a vet assistant diploma so i've seen these things. Though not for reptiles.
 
It sounds like a fatty deposit. I would suggest your friend take it to the vet to be sure though. Better safe than sorry.
 
I agree with Jicin and Dand. Best to get a vet check it out, but if it's a fat lump then it should be no problem to the snake. My 16 year old female had a lump by her vent for 13 years of her life and it didn't bother her.
