food for fast growth?

now i dont want any flaming, this is just a simple question.

I have heard of feeding cornsnakes things other than mice/rats....but is there anything healthy i can feed a cornsnake to assist in it growing faster?

Food for growth!

I wouldnt recommend feeding him anything besides mice/rats because that is what snakes eat. Yes your snake will grow but like everything growth will take time. Just let your snake live and grow at its normal pace.

do you cut your mice? that seamed to help annabella to grow faster, i've also heard a few people say gerbils help snakes grow faster

there isnt a specific type of animal you can really feed a corn that will show a difference in growth maybe about a inch or two if you use vitamins maybe even a little longer than that but what i think is would just feed it more to grow fatser simple as that just watch out you DO NOT WANT TO OVER OVER FEED IT

eeeew...cut it? as in its guts going everywhere.......cut something that has fur and a face in half..........eeeew

No, you just clip 3 or 4 cuts in the back (frozen/thawed of course). It doesn't make a mess.

My snake is a little over 20 inches in length, the past few weeks I've been feeding her two pinkies every 5 days. This seems to be increasing her growth more rapidly then when she was only on one pinky every week. Whatever you do, if your snake is still really young and small in size, do not over feed it and try 2 pinkies just yet. I'd suggest one pinky every 5 days instead of every week.

Heh, so---you tell Willow to feed every 4 days, which is pretty borderline powerfeeding, but then you say be careful, dont overfeed?

Which is it?

Willow, cuts are helpful. It lets digestive acids/juices in the snakes gut get into the mouse faster, without having to break down the skin first. This results in a more digested meal, and a faster digested on. Also I'd assume that the snake retains more nutrition out of the meal. I feed freshly killed and have just started doing this, so we'll see how it goes.

If you wander over to TJSAC forum (member forums) one of the first few posts is about the cutting, with pictures for an example.

Rats also are a better nutritional value, so if your snake is on big fuzzies/hoppers you could get it over to rat pinks and that would help too.

Get your snake on rat pinks/pups as soon as it'll take them. I've seen quicker growth with rats than with mice. You could feed every 5 days, but I wouldn't go any less than that.
