hello everyone. i have just one question well i brought a F/T mouse yesterday and sat it in the sun to defrost it and it stated bleedin because i forgot about it so i brought it back in the house to caool off then i put it back in the freezer and now i would like to know if i defrost it again can i feed it to the snake or buy another one... just to let everyone know this is my first tim with a F/T so i really dnt knoe
 
I wouldnt feed it to her. I would go and buy a new one. It might cause her to get sick if she ate it. You dont ever want to refreeze after its already thawed out and to defrost it put it in a small cup and run luck warm water over it and let it sit for 15 minutes and then dump the water out and add warmmer water and then feed it to your snake. its quicker that way. And you will pick up less germs then leaving it sit in the sun. Nice creamsicle by the way. she/he is gorgeous. How old? mines a 15 month old creamsicle. had her since she was 8 weeks
 
no he is not a creamsicle he is a Reverse oaktee? i really dnt know his age but i had him since he was a baby...here is a bigger pic 4 u...

You left it out in the sun?

The way to defrost f/t is to put it in a ziplock baggie and then put it in hot or very warm water and let it defrost and then put in hot water again just before feeding.

I would throw that mouse away and buy another for your snake.

yea it came in a baggie and i put it outside to thaw... i usally buy live mice but i wanted to try F/T and did it wrong darn it :( i'll try again.
 
is that wood chips he's on? If so wood chips like repti bark can cause cause RI's. The dust from the wood can get into their lungs. Thats how sasha got sick and maybe mine is a reverse okeetee cause when she was a baby I looked her up on several places and the vet even told me she was a creamsicle and she is the same kind as yours hmm have to check into that one. Maybe Im wrong lol.
 
well ma local petstore is rite around the corner so I always get live mice and stay away from f/t unless I have to. Bt if its easy for u to get live mice then u wouldn't have to go trough the (t) procces
 
Thawing is no problem, just use hot water from the tap. Put the frozen mouse in a ziplock and submerge that for 10-15 minutes in a glass of hot tap water. You may have to refresh the water if it isn't too hot or it's a larger prey item.

It's not a good idea to just leave it out in the sun or elsewhere. Leaving it to thaw too long will cause the growth of bacteria which isn't good for the snake.

Some people don't recommend putting a mouse back in the freezer.
My Female Corn Snake doesn't eat when she is about to shed and I simply return her dinner to the freezer and never had a problem.
I'm concern since you put yours in the SUN.
How lone was it in the Sun?
Did it begin to smell?
If in double throw it out and simply buy another.
You want to do everything reasonable to keep your new pet healthy.
In the future I would recommend defrosting the little mouse at room temperature for lest than an hour, make sure that it is totally defrosted inside and out but not in a microwave or in direct sun.
Snakes can usually go quite some time with out eating and still remain quite healthy.
