Force feeder not gaining.

WARNING: I can be.....
I have a Non-feeder hatchling, that I am force feeding mice tails ever 5-7 days. I have been doing this for a few weeks now. The first time or two she did not take it at first, kept spitting it back up. But now she takes it first time, no problem. I would like her to gain a little wait.. Can I upt her feeding to like a pinkie head? or maybe a very small whole pinkie? Thanks!!

You can feed them mice tails every 4 days as they digest those quickly. But those are only to get them feeding, yes I would start him on slit Xsmall pinks.
Good Luck
John

We started with our nonfeeder on mouse tails for a few feedings, bumped it up to a pink head, and are now up to small pinks. It's messy business, and we're hoping she'll start taking them on her own soon (she's a gorgeous aztec-y amel) but no such luck yet.

How do you force feed? I have 2 who have not ate in the mth they have hatched. I would love to know how to do this so I can help them live. Are they small mouse tails?
Thanks a bunch!

You take an adult frozen mouse, snip of the tail at the base. Make sure it is warm, oue the base/thickest part of the tail to gently pry the mouth open. Slowly move the mose tail down the throat until only a little sticks out or it is difficult to push the rest if the flimbsy tip in any further. Put her in the deli cup(or whatever you have her in) and leave her aone for a little while. Check back in to see if she accept it or if she push it out. If she push it out, re-peat this proscess 2-3 times. If she still didn't take it, wait about 3-4 days and try again. You do not want to stress her to much. Good Luck!!

You're Awesome! Thank You!! I hope its not too much longer for your guy to eat on its one! Its hard to watch these little babies not eat.
I will try it! Thanks a bunch!!! :D

That's pretty much it except when you push it down as far as you can, you run your finger down his/her belly underneath their throat to help it move down.

oh just stumbled on this tip and ive had a blizzard that is scrarily thin due to refusing every other method i have tried. just managed to get her to take a small mice tail so hopefully i'll keep it up over the next few weeks and get her feeding :)

thanks

And hang in there -- I bought a snake that came to me as being assist fed tails. She ate her first pink right off the bat and has not refused since then!

good luck!!

second tail fed tonight but geez she does everything not to take it. i ended up having to cut the tip off the tail to allow her to close her mouth so she didn't force it out...

It's better to use the fat end first, cut the tail off right were it comes out of the mouse and only use this much: -------------- and put the fat end in first.
