Forming new reptile club

Lynnea

That's "lin-NAY-ah"
Well, maybe "Herpetological Society" in the upstate of South Carolina. I have several corn acquaintances in these parts, but not enough to form a club, and I know several other local snake owners. So I contacted our local library and they are working with me on this, by having a showing of the "Herpers" movie and an informal meeting afterward. This is all happening Tuesday, July 20 from 5:30-8:00 p.m. Everyone who is in the vicinity is invited!

There used to be one in the Upstate years ago.....there also used to be a state of SC one as well that met in Columbia. Both disbanded due to "creative" differences...some of the people like WC snakes and selling, some like CB only, some liked Hots only, some only wanted to know the science. Unfortunately, due to all the differences of opinions the different groups splintered and there is no formal club around anymore. There is the Hot Herp Society but that is about it.

This will be a nice start and I wish you luck. I'll take a look at the calender and see what my schedule might be.

That would be awesome if you could come! We'll just have to see who shows up and what the interest is. I'm hoping we get some kids to show up--I know there are some high schoolers who have snakes, both here in Landrum and at Polk County HS right over the line in NC. I'm thinking I'll have a survery form for people to fill out, then we can see what we have. Thanks for your interest, Jeff!

That's something I might be interested in attending. Good luck with setting it up and let me know more about it as the time gets closer.

Glad it turned out well. Sorry I missed it but with my dissertation deadlines this Friday there is a lot of paperwork I'm wading through.....maybe next time.
