Found snake dead this afternoon

Your new little one looks great I wish you the best with this one. I see a good number of Amels at my local stores they seem to be the most popular for supplied to those stores I did find a buy a very nice Zigzag snow (my only snake from them) its doing great I have had her close to 3 months now eats and sheds great. I have see some very nice Amels there

its possible they weren't doing it yet at your store because all the Petco's and Petsmart for that matter keep log books here in Maryland. Not by word of mouth I have actually seen them during feeding day every Thursday at both chains, according to the girl at the Petco down the road from me its Mandatory. She wouldn't even wait on me till she was done logging in feedings. I frequent the stores because Thursday is also the day they get crickets. I buy those by the ton it seems. I try to be fair and hit several places so I don't deplete all at any one store LOL

Oh, I know what "log" you are talking about. It isn't actually a feeding log, but a check list that is to be done multiple times a day, and is manditory.

To me a "feeding log" is a log for each individual snake, that states the date it eats, and when it refuses to eat.

Now, if your Petco had an actual feeding log, then great for them. But, I can say from experience of working at Petco for the better part of 2 years, that not all of their stores keep actual feeding logs, but they are supposed to do the checks.

yeah they are actual feeding logs. listing dates fed and refused. one thin I did notice is the lack of shed date this would be of great importance for the amels that can sometimes be difficult to determine if there in shed or not. I gather it would be hard to know exactly what snake shed since there are usually 3-4 in the tank. My guess is that's why no shed info is listed One of the petsmarts I frequent has a female there who's parents have raised and bred corns for decades she is very good with them.

That is why it is difficult to have accurate feeding records as well. Most box store employees are not like myself and a few others on here, who actually care about the animals and try to change things for the better. Most of them are fresh out of high school and a little wet behind the ears. You are lucky to have someone that cares working at the store near you, I can assure you that records like that are not the norm for Petco or Petsmart.
