Frivolous/Inappropriate Post Reporting

I know that the rules here aren't always crystal-clear. But the mods seem to be fielding a lot of complaints lately that aren't even in the gray areas. The mods are here to enforce site rules. We're not here to maintain a love-in atmosphere. Lapses of politeness or etiquette aren't necessarily our province. "inflammatory Posting" and "Antagonism toward other Members" are very broad and subjective categories. Before you ask us to take care of your own, personal pet peeve, it would be prudent to ensure that your own posts don't inflame or antagonize others.

I like the "loose" atmosphere around here. It allows open exchange of ideas, a bit of personal "tweaking," but encourages general civility.

If you ask for trouble, and get it, don't come crying to us. This is PARTICULARLY true in political threads. I can't take literal heat, so I spend little time in kitchens...

Discussion is welcome in this thread, but I'll delete any perceived silliness-- this isn't funny to me, and I didn't create this thread for amusement...

Your still the coolest Dean!!! Even when you have to be tough. :) Must be a New England thing. :D
He does possess a penchant for a profound and penetrating turn of phrase, Tim, doesn't he?

You know, Katharine Hepburn (CT) and Bette Davis (MA) come immediately to mind when I think of the no-nonsense rapier New England manner of stating things candidly and concisely just as they are.

Haha Bette Davis for sure. You know All About Eve is one of the greatest films ever made.

What he said.

Good to see you, Wes. I don't think my boss is so fond of you, but I respect the fact that you seem to be able to dish it out AND take it...

Rich loves me, we all know that. He just can't go public with it. It's complicated.

I've always tried to be fair and being able to take a shot, or nine, without whining about it is part of the fair game.

Normally, I can laugh at these kind of threads. Unfortunately in this instance, I feel compelled to apologize. Perhaps its my recent relationship debacle that fills me with this inherent desire to see everyone getting along... hell, I dunno. I do know that one of those recent complaints was fielded by me due to a lapse in fair judgment. Whoops. I've since corrected the issue on my own terms.

I'll be honest in saying that hearing some of the mods complain about complaints has in the past been funny. But when you post something like this, I tend to take it seriously. I've been quite the melancholy person these days, and for that I apologize :(

However, I have finally come to my senses and started taking my own advice: If I don't like it, I don't read it.

I think Dean and the other mods do a great job at policing this site.

The only post I report anymore are the occasional spam.
