Fruit Kids

All Pied Everything
Well, I've officially chosen my hold backs. The rest of the babies are technically up for sale, but I am not certified to ship with FedEx yet, so I don't want to post them there.

I just wanted to share pictures with everyone. If you are interested in a particular hatchling PM me for further inquiries. I'm not sure when I'll have the time to get certified though. I just finished my summer school classes, which is what was taking most of my time before, but now I'm in the process of moving, so who knows.

Anyway, I decided to keep Fig because she just seems like an extraordinary Amel Stripe. I have a feeling she is going to be quite red. Due to this awesome coloration I've also changed her name to Sangria. Original, huh?

Alright, here are the pictures of the kids I have left

Gotta say, I'm not too disappointed she didn't sell at the Portland expo!

I'm pretty excited about her! Her mother is a solid bright yellow, and I'm hoping that she inherits that filling in of color. It will be very interesting to watch her grow!

My other hold back is a Butter Motley. I am particularly drawn to her because she looks like she may end up displaying hurricane markings. She inherited the cool outlining of the saddles that her dad has, but her saddle count with the nice outlining is much higher than her fathers, who just had them near his back half/ tail. Even if she doesn't turn out to be a "Hurricane" (not really sure what the criteria for a Hurricane is, do they need to be line bred? Does every single Motley dot need to be outlined? Do all of the Hurricane's Motley dots need to be perfectly circular?), I think her markings are pretty sweet. She's definitely worth holding onto for a little while to see how she progresses. ;)

I think as she grows her first few Motley "dots" will be a little more outlined. I think I can see the potential there for fading.

Now onto the rest of the kids that I have left. They are all doing well, never refusing food anymore. I really hope I can find some good homes for them soon!

Here she's being kind of shy, which is very uncharacteristic of her! Usually she has quite the attitude.

One thing that's very nice about this girl is that she's definitely not shy about eating!

This girl is very unusual because her neck looks like a Stripe's does.. something that is pretty rare with Motleys. She also looks like she is going to be screaming red!

Her red even shows up pretty well in these naturally lit photos

Those are all the hatchlings I have left. Out of 16 I don't think I'm doing too bad! Hope you guys enjoyed the pictures.

Interesting that you gave them all fruity names. Without knowing that, I named the little butter stripe I got from you Lemon Drop. She is doing great, and I love her!

Lemondrop? Ahhh, that's her brother's name! If you look at my iherp page, he's listed as Lemondrop (Cantaloupe). Jess named him Cantaloupe but I changed it since he's a butter stripe.

And Jess I'm still interested in Papaya if we can figure out shipping.

All of the babies are looking great!

Great minds think alike? It just seemed like a good name for a butter stripe.

I know! I still find myself referring to him as Cantaloupe and his sister as Zucchini even though their names have changed! :)

Wendy, your girl's original name was Kiwi. ;) Lemon Drop is probably much more fitting! How is she doing for you btw?

Here's a picture of Kiwi as a little baby.

Solona, hopefully I'll start the certification process soon! Sometimes it feels like I have 20+ things on my to do list and it's hard to get all of them done! I think getting certified to ship through Fed Ex is probably a pretty major thing to do though!

I'm sure we'll figure something out.

She's doing great! She's very sweet and is eating and growing well. I'm so glad I got her!

They all look very nice and I love the names. Maybe I could send you a box and you could ship them here where I could look at them further.
Good luck on moving
John

Quick update: I think Passion has found a home with one of my friends here in Eugene, but I don't want to count on it 100% until it happens. I'm staying a bit reserved because I half fear one of those "oh of course I want it, yes, I can't wait for it to get here", so on so on so on until they day it's time for them to pik it up (or come through, whatever the situation is), and of course something has come up, or the person has conveniently forgot and by some miracle they must not be hearing all of those telephone calls you're sending them!

hahaha, okay, this person isn't that bad, and she DEFINITELY means well. She just doesn't come through 100% of the time on plans we make and commitments, and that just worries me a little.

Passion is just so darn cute though that really, who could resist her? I'm really hoping it works out so that I can see her in person whenever I visit Eugene. If I had enough space to keep a larger group, she would most likely be in that group.

John, yea, that's a great idea! I keep telling myself I need to look into getting FedEx certified, and I will do that ASAP. I know Nanci has a nice thread up that pretty much walks you through it.

I think there are a few that locals are interested in, but after that I'd be happy to have them go to you! There's one Butter Stripe girl left! I know Solona wants her, but we haven't really worked out the details yet.

They are all doing really nifty, your girl did REALLY great. Next season I was thinking of pairing her with my Sunkissed Motley boy. He's kind of young, but since I know she'll double clutch even if she is not bred again (she did it this year), if he ends up to dud out in the first round, I'll give Copperhead a go for the second to get more nice results like this.

Would be kind of a long road (my SK Mot boy is not het Caramel that I know of, and I'm guessing your girl is not het SK!) for a Honey Motley/ Stripe project, but I guess you have to start somewhere. :wavey:

I do want her, but don't necessarily have breeding plans. If John does, I'd completely understand sending her his way instead.

Mango/Zucchini shed yesterday so I figured I'd take some new pictures of her. I should have snapped some of Lemondrop/Cantaloupe the other night when I fed him but completely forgot.
