Ok i have a a female that's about 2 months old (aproximatley) she sheds and i use a hot damp wash cloth and let her slither through. she acts all spazy but i'd figure that's normal since the wash cloth feels wierd. everytime i do it at about the same spot it's just unleft shedding her skin is the same grayish color. i just want all of it to shed off and show all of her beautiful colorashin. it just agrivates me. it's always that bottom half too. i'm taking suggestions i don't know what else to do :shrugs:

One of the reasons why she acts all 'spazy' is because your using a hot cloth - this is probably burning the snake, anything that is even warm to you is really hot to snakes.

Try increasing the humidity when it comes time to shed (when your snake is in blue) by moving the water bowl onto the warm side, or misting a couple of times a day, get a hygromete if you haven't already got one - the humidity should be 40-50%.
Another way is if your viv has vents at the top - I cover some of them to with cling film to keep some humidity in the viv.

ok but

when I wet the damp wash cloth trust me i never burn it. the pattern that is in the cloth is making her go slitherin like cracy. it isn't burning hot. and during this I take her out and handle her with the thing on my hand.

thanks for the suggestions though i'll try them out they sound like good ideas

It may not be burning hot - but like I said, things that only seem warm to you is very hot to them.

Good luck with those ideas though.

Marty's right, the "hot damp wash cloth" you're using will feel much much hotter to the snake. Keep it lukewarm and nothing higher, just to be safe.

Is the waterbowl big enough for the snake to fully emmerse in?

I'd advise you search the forums for "moist hide" and create one.

The way your first post reads, it sounds as though you help her every time, did I read correctly? Do you ever just leave her to it?

OK you guys were right it was a little to hot. Now i use it at about room temp.
thanks for all the advise I'm off to use them. :grin01:

when I was taking her out today i saw this big curled up peace of dead skin! :crazy02: She finished shedding! :grin01: She has a beautiful color scheme now, I love it she's beautiful again!
