Gas Fumes

They were mowing the grass this morning and the fumes were real strong... i dont know why, but can that be harmful to the snakes?

Short answer: yes.

Long answer: depends on the amount of exposure. On one hand, snakes don't breathe as much or as often, so they'll absorb less of the contaminants in the air than humans will. On the other hand, they're smaller and have less body mass (unless we're talking an adult boid here...).

Basically, prolonged exposure carries the most risk... but prolonged exposure to said fumes isn't good for us humans either.
One day of mowing isn't likely to harm anybody though.

Where do you keep your snakes???

in the bedroom and two in the living room. the fumes were coming in from outside... it was bad. i guess the maintainence spilled... i dunno. it was stinky, i hope it wasnt enough to hurt my lil ones...

What kind of fumes would come from mowing the lawn? Unless you have a professional yardman that sprays insecticdes or other "pest deterrents?" Just to be on the safe side, I would close all the windows, and run the air for awhile.... and maybe find out where the smell was coming from. The guy that does our lawn always tells us if he's going to use something that won't be safe for our animals, and usually does the front and back on seperate days, so we won't have too big a problem.

all doors and windows were closed... the a/c is always running along with ceiling fans..and they were gas fumes... the thing is we are in an apt complex so it is the crew the company hires... not us...

Because gasoline is used to operate a lawnmower??

We don't have very many spiffy electric mowers and most people don't use the human-powered ones anymore.
