the bubble in about 1.5-2" long and it's soft. it's about half way down the snake. he's a hatchling..i say about 2-3 months. his viv is at about 76-80, i use aspen, and fresh water daily.

That's a bit cool. The warm end should be in the mid to high 80s - it's possible that he's having trouble digesting if the temps aren't warm enough. Can you try bumping the warm end up by about five degrees? Undigested food can rot in the gut, which might cause the effect you're seeing.
