Gecko regurge?

So our new baby leopard gecko regurged two partially digested crickets since we got him , yesterday!Does anybody know if this is as dagerous for him as is for a snake? He's just tiny, maybe 4-5 inches.Little bugger's got me worried!:(

Thank god not dangerous like in corns at all, but do check your temps and the amount of food you are feeding. They will throw up if their hot spot is too low or they are over fed. For a hatchling 4-6 crickets is more than enough for a feeding with the crickets being about the size of 90% of their heads and no bigger. Hope this helps!!

Well that takes some of the worry away!:) He's eaten 2-3 crickets since yesterday afternoon and had one poop.I fogot to grab a thermometer today but his hot hide should be close to 27C, I put the same amount of bedding over the UTH as with our corn and his usually ran 28-30C.:shrugs:

What bedding are you using? Gecko regurges or pooping their prey undigested almost always boil down to temps. Geckos manifest illness with runny stools, but I bet this is husbandtry related and not an illness at all. Like with snakes you shouldn't feed on substrate as they too can vomit and even die if enough substrate is ingested. Most people use your basic papertowels or astroturf, but never use aspen for a gecko. The only thing mine get is papertowels and a hide with moist spagnum in there for shedding. I would make sure your hot spot is at 85 and not warmer than 90 because too hot temps have the same effect.

Thanks angain for your help! The guy at the reptile shop keeps them all on repti bark type bedding, which I'm now findding out, is a stupid thing to do!His stool looked good but the vomiting's bugging me!I'm going to run to Wal-mart tomorrow and get a thermometer! Will these guys burrow at all to get to the heat, like a corn snake?

Nope they won't burrow though they are ground dwellers they stay above ground. Regurges aren't such a big deal as long as they are drinking, but a thermometer is a must because they are definitely temp sensitive. Just measure your temps on the actual substrate and not under like with a snake. Make sure you do have hides on the cool side as well and everything will be fine. If you use reptibark, ecoearth, or similar products remember not to feed on it but good old papertowels and newspaper make great substrate and are safe to feed on reducing the hassel of pulling everyone out.

Ahh, no one ever told us that. I caught him taking a huge drink about an hour ago:)About the substrate, I always worry about the UTH heating things up too much with thin substrate like paper towels, You must need a thermostat?I must confess I don't use one for Simon. When I first joined here Nanci told me of a breeder who for ages just put plenty of bedding down and they kind of move it around till they hit the magic temp.Gotta love these smart corns!:)

I like his set up very cute coffee cup hide!! Just don't feed on the bark and your good. Crickets love to burry in substrate because its dark and cool and your little one will definitely go down to catch them and accidently eat it- their not too bright, lol!! I use papertowels with all my geckos, but raise the tanks an inch or two to avoid the hot spot from becomming a baking spot. If you decide to change you'll have to play with it and of course have the thermometer and rheostat for safety, but as long as you don't feed on the bark its fine to leave it.
