Ghost Lavender Phenotype question

Kris

New member
I have a lavender het anery and a hypo het anery that I'm breeding this year, intending to produce hypo lavs. My question is, in the F2, when those ghost lavenders pop out, what will I be looking at? Will I be looking at purplish ghosts, regular looking ghosts with the lav masked, or a hypo lav with the anery masked? I'm sure this has come up in projects going on here, so please, if anyone could let me know what they've seen in their experience that would be great.
Thanks,
Kris

Excellent question!

I have several anery 'A's het Lavender that should reproduce this year. I hope to find some answers then.

I also have this little gem

I'm only sure that it is homo Lavender. It's parents are het anery 'A' and Rich says it may also have Charcoal in it's lineage as well.

I have one female Charcoal that I bred before I decided to prove the male Lav het Charcoal. I think I'll try double clutching her since she's HUGE and breed her to the Lav to see if he is het Charcoal.

By Golly Clint,

that is one sweet looking baby. I hope you post updates as that little one gets a good growth spurt this summer.

That first pic was with a flash, this second one was without.

She is definately different from the Lavenders I've seen. She's growing well now so hopefully in a few years I'll be able to prove out just what she's made of. I crossed her parents again this year even though thier fertility was not very good.

P.S. I should add that this doesn't address the Hypo involved in the initial topic about 'Ghosts'. But just add hypo in the mix and we're there.

That does seem to fit...

Hey Clint,
That does seem to have the potential to be homo lav and anery. I was surfing around Rich's photo gallery and saw a post he made about getting some wierd looking lavender babies out of anery A parents, and it all seems to point to lavender being close by not quite dominant in the phenotype. I think with the hypo in the mix, it would probably look like a more purplish ghost, or a less orange hypo lav... Your baby there seems to be a purplish colored anery, or a lav lacking in the pinkish tones... Very interesting.
If anyone else has anything to share I'd love to see/hear it.
Thanks everyone,
Kris
