Glade, Incents, and rubber.

I was wondering if the following could be harmful to my cornsnake. I have a glade plug-in in my room and those can be kind of strong, could this bother the snake? I also like to burn incents in my room. I can't be sure the smoke won't go into the cage, so could this be harmful also? Another thing, I have these 2 rubber lizards, and I thought it would be funny to set them in the cage. Could the rubber be harmful? Thanks in advance.

I don't know that the smells would necessarily be harmful but I would bet they would annoy your snake. They're very sensitive to smells so I'd play the safe side and either move your snake to another room or not burn incense and your glad plug in. Just my .02

I had a party about a year ago and noticed someone had put a rubber snake in the terrarium with my corns...gotta say I didn't think about petrochemical fumes at the time!! The rule I follow with mine is 'fresh air but no draughts' and it works fine for me. As long as the air isn't stagnant I'm sure your snakes will be fine. Open a window from time to time and you'll have enough turnover to not warrant uing airfresheners too much. -not saying your place stinks or anything, so don't misinterpret me, but a nicely aired room always smells better then one loaded with synthetic air freshener. IMHO

Be sure to wash the rubber lizards with soap and water to get any oily residue off. Like princess said, plastics tend to have petrochemicals on them from the manufacturing process and it's best to try and minimize that problem.

Thanks for the replies. I threw out the air freshener. I'll light the incense in another room. And I'll be sure to wash the lizards before placing them inside the cage.

i was thinking the same thing as Mary-Beth but they probably wouldnt try to eat the lizards because they dont have any body heat and dont smell like a lizard. Snakes have bad eye sight so heat and smell are the only ways it would know its a lizard, im pretty sure.
