Glass thickness

Is 2.5 MM thick enough for a custom vivarium glass? I am getting class for the bottom where the UTH will go, and I found reasonable glass and that is the thickness it had.

2.5 mm seems a bit thin, usually 6mm is the standard small size, just to support the weight and prevent shattering if anything bumps into it. If its price, you might be better off looking up plexi distributors and see if you cant get some! Home depots will cut it for you for free :D

I am not too worried about the price. I saw the glass at Lowes but I didn't see anything thicker than that.

Yeah I wouldnt go anything less then 6mm thick, thats the standard thickness they use on 40 gal aquariums and also the thickness I got for the bottom of my vivs ;)

I purchased my vivs completed, but you should search for distributors, usually you can get glass cheaper and cut for you there as well in more sizes. youd have to check the yellow pages or something in your area

6mm. I ended up using thin glass encased around word for my doors. I have a picture of my built Viv on a different thread of this section.
