Going blue??

Ok my snake hasn't shed for about one month. I was hoping she would go into blue stage, but she didn't. (I just got her about 4 months ago and she shed 2 times failing and 1 succseful) I didn't think she'd go in blue because she was still shedding.

Just last night before i went to bed i saw about a 6" piece of dead skin laying there. (I was happy with the fast and quick progress) Is this ok that she didn't go into blue stage?????

Hi there,
If the six inch is from a recent shed, well, you miss the "signs" of the snake going into blue stage snake. That's all. But what happen to the rest of the shed?? Check to see that all of it has come off of your snake. Especially the tail area. You don't want the old skin to stay on the tail and cut off the circulation. You humility should be about 40-50% too. What's your??
What and how much are you feeding your snake?? Because if it a hatching it should be sheding once a month??
 
Assuming from your avatar, im guessing you have an amel.
From my own personal experince, amels dont have nearly of a pronounced "blue phase" as other morphs. Their eyes dont really turn blue (mine turned a a shade of orange) and the color loss was so gradual that it was hard to notice.
 
On the contrary, I find my amel is the most obvious when he is blue. He turns a lovely shade of mauve over his whole body.

What do you mean by this? How did she fail to shed? Or did you mean that the shed itself was a failure. If your sheds are not all in one piece, that usually indicates a humidity problem. I'd put a humid hide in there for her. Leave it in the tank all the time until you learn to notice the signs of shedding. She'll use it when she needs it.
 
Ok i have a hydrometer but whats a humid hide? I have a light that's good for vitamen C or D or something like that and a 50 watt infered heat lamp, and a heating pad. Is the humid hide just a way of saying heating pad? Or is it a hide that's wet and she can hide in there and helps shed. If it's that I also have that in there for her (which i don't really see her use)

Never heard of it.
I would forget the heat lamp and get an "under tank heater" (UTH). Not a heat pad. Sold at most pet stores. And yes, a humid hide is a "home made" hide that you can make difference ways, mainly putting damp moss in a hide to help with sheding.

Probably from the pet store. He probably means a UV lamp, which lizards need to manufacture Vitamin D.

Snakes don't need UV lights. I'd say with a UV light and an infrared light, that's a bit of overkill. They tend to dry out the air in the tank. I'll second what Lenny said and recommend you just get a UTH. Your humidity should be around 50% all the time and 60-70% during shedding time.

A humid hide--a plastic container with a lid (I use Glad disposable containers that you can get at the grocery store) in which an entrance is cut out of one side and is loosely filled with damp sphagnum moss.

Ha HA yes thanks for the corection, and i did have an iguana before this and that's where i got it from. I do have a hide taht's a plastic container and has a pretty good size whole not to big though. That is wet and is not burning hot. It's about room temp. I don't see her go in it though? any reasons why?

It's like my own snake answered my question. Just this morning she was in it and there was a big thingy of dead skin (she was shedding) ok never mind then she's in it and is happy.
