Good bedding?

All natural blend of pine, spruce and fir wood shavings

With that statement describing what it is I would stay away from it.
Try going with aspen.

Hi,

I use hemp bedding for my cornsnake. It is from a german dealer but I think in US something similar is also available. In Germany it is sold in large blocks normaly used for horses.

Very nice bedding, dustfree and very absorbend. Also very useful for rodents.

Here the link (in german): http://pferdesnack.de/start.htm?d_9980_Scharrer_Hanfeinstreu_200_L274.htm

maybe it will help. Look for the horse bedding, because the reptile hemp bedding is to expensive.

I don't use pine or wood substrate with the exception of aspen, which I mix with carefresh. I have seen how animals react to wood substrate, the oils in them and their dust. We have, at times of low $$, used just aspen and our mice have developed respiratory problems.

Here is a link to a site that talks about the effects of pine shavings on animals. Read it and make up your mind, if it's worth the risk. To me, it's not and I realize that people use these products without problem. This is just my opinion.
