what is a good thermostat? I'm only going to running one UTH through it. Thanks in advance
I got the Spyder Robotics Herpstat from MG Reptiles (above post). Great product and great service! (since you're only 14, the cheers is with a rootbeer!):grin01:

You can also go with a lamp dimmer switch from Lowes or Home Depot since you're only heating 1 viv.

I love my Herpstat. It seems very accurate and has lots of good features and isn't too pricey. Just set it and forget it.

I also some analog thing with a dial on the front. It's a proportional thermostat, but I don't like it. I can't remember where I got it, but you will see the same unit re-badged with different reptile supply company names. It seems to have some drift. And getting it to the correct temperature is a painstaking guessing game.

thanks for the advice :) i already have a repti-temp rheostat that i used for my old corn and the lowest it will go is 90 at the glass( any way to fix this?) and it fluxuates alot. my b-day is in a few days so i will probably just buy a good one like johnson controls.

There is really nothing you can do to fix a dimmer(repti-temp). They are/can be problematic.. A JC is a good choice for an upgrade though.

i've been messing with it and the temp has stayed at 84-85 for the last 3 days. I have a bare viv right now. If the temp is 84 at the glass would it be fine with an inch of aspen on top?

Yes, it would be fine. If your snake wants to be down by the glass, that way he will not get burned but be at the right temperature.

I have two Spyder Robotics Herpstats, and I love them. I also have a Helix DBS-1000 that's fine as long as you don't exceed half of its rated/listed wattage limit.

I also recommend the Spyder Robotics Herpstat. I love it! Its so much better than running around the room trying to adjust 3 different rheostats. I've got three UTHs plugged into it, and it regulates all three within a degree or two of each other.
