Good Tub Size for Adults?

I'm sure someone has already answered this question, but I had trouble finding a thread where it is addressed.

What is a good tub size for adult corns? Right now I'm think of getting a pair of bloodreds or something similar, so I'm not building a rack yet, I'm just going to use individual tubs. I'd like to try to use something smaller than a 41 qt. though.

32qt or 28 qt sound good?
 
I have mine in 32qt tubs and they do just fine. If you are planning on getting babies I would suggest using 6qt tubs. Then move them up when you see they need more room. I go 6qt, 15qt then 32qt. Just be sure the lids are very secure or they will get out. :)
 
Hijacking.

I have been thinking about getting tubs also until I have real room for a tank. Can A normal UTH be used or will it melt? I don't want to mess around with flexwatt. Thank you.

RW, you want the tub to be the longest you can find. They don't really need to climb. So go hunting for the longest, what ever that might be.

I'm probably going to get flamed for this but..I don't use UTH under my adults tubs. They are in a room that stays 76-85 degrees all the time. They do very well and have no problems. All of my babies are in some kind of rack.
I have seen many people attach a UTH to a piece of plexiglass or other very smooth surface then just sit it under one end of the totes, with a thermostat of course. They use the UTH that fits under a 5-10 gallon tank. Hope that helps. :)
 
Thanks. My house/room ranges from 60 something to 80 depending on how my mom feels so I need a UTH to keep somethign stable in the tank.

I have a couple of my snakes in 32 qt tubs, and I do attach the UTH directly to the bottom and I've had no problems. However, I also have my UTH hooked-up to a dimmer switch to control the temp, along with the thermometer inside the tub. I googled the melting temp of plastic, and it stated about 300*F -- although, that also depends upon a lot of factors (coating, thickness, etc...). However, I haven't been having any problems...*fingers crossed*! :)
 
Alright thanks. At least I know I won't have to worry about finding a way to find room for a larger tank.
 
27/28 qt is what many use for adults, but I personally wasn't happy with that size. They barely have room to move in those. I upgraded to 41 qt and I feel much better about that. I now use my original, smaller tubs for yearlings and move them to 41 when they get bigger.
 
To be honest (and I didn't quite clarify this), my bigger snakes are in 20+-gallon size tanks...only my yearlings & subadults are in 32 qt tubs. Should I need to put an adult in a tub, I'd probably go with something a bit bigger...but, seeing as how I'm only at 11 snakes total, I'm not yet too badly in a space crunch (though, if I brought home one more snake...not only would I get into some serious trouble with the boyfriend, but...*then* I'd be feeling the crunch of the space!)...:)
