Hi guys,

I just experienced the breeding snakes... Mind you, I just got my first pair of snow cornsnakes in May. The breeder said that she normally double clutches so don't be surprised if she does. So, I put the male in with her and blam! 10 lil egg surprises in her cage on Friday. One of them looks pretty yellow but all of the others look fine. She's a bit skinny and I am sure exhausted. I can't wait to give her the "new mommy adult mouse meal" after she sheds.

She may produce some odd ball corns if she held any sperm from the first breeding.

Nothing like jumping in head first....

Ta ta and I will keep you up dated as to what's hatching. The clutch is due around 9/19/2002. If anyone is interested in snows, wait til then to email me. :) I will forget before then.

Feeding...

I can't wait to give her the "new mommy adult mouse meal" after she sheds.

I don't think you have to wait until after she sheds again to feed her. Mine laid their first clutches this season, too. It takes another week to 10 days for them to have their post-laying shed. She needs to be fed the next day, I believe! Laying eggs takes a lot out of them and they need to start replinishing themselves as soon as possible.

Please, if anyone else knows more about this than me...which is probably almost everyone...let us know if I am telling Skylark correctly!

Thanks!

Mine turn their noses up at food until about 5 days after they lay. They do normally eat before their post-lay shed, so it's worth a try. I encourage them by offering slightly smaller food items than they're used to in their first post-laying feed (less effort to swallow & digest).

Cheers
Kel

FEEDING

Hi all.

When my corn laid her eggs i gave her 2 fresh killed pinkies 23 hours aftershe had finished, i will now wait until she sheds which should be any day now as her eyes cleared this morning:D .

Eggs were laid last weekend and they all look good (15) i have butterflies as big as hawks i'm so nervous.

.....................................STEVE.

I know what you mean, Steve! One of my clutches was laid four weeks ago tomorrow. And the other was laid three weeks ago on Thursday. They have been some of the longest weeks of my life! Of course, the next four or so will probably be MUCH longer!
