gravid snow??? plz help...

My husband surprized me 2day with a new tank for Juliet. So I cleaned it up and immediatly (sp?) put her and the egg box in there, of course she has water too.. shes roaming around the tank... ???

oh. and since I put her in the seperate tank (after she explored it) all she's been doing is sleeping... is she ok? or is that the "lay trance" that happens?

:-offtopic Just wondering if you knew that there is a spell check button when you post a reply... you don't need to put "(sp)", just click on spell check and fix it.

Glad to hear you separated them, and hope all goes well with the egg laying!

hi magicwhisper.
sounds like your female is loving being alone she's proberly relaxing specially if she's due to lay. My female hasn't moved from her egg box, my male keeps going in there and last night he went in there she started doing that jerky movement so i immediately unlocked the Viv and took him out and put him in a separate Viv. Now she's loving it!!!!!!

well, I have periodically checked in on her yesterday, she explored her new viv and went in the egg box for a few moments, dug around, then has stayed out of it...

ok, here I go bugging u guys again, but I have yet another ???... Today when I looked @ her, she was laying in such a way that I could see her cloaca, and it looked red and swollen... now it just looks red, but not so swollen... whats happening? She still wont go into the box. but she does love laying "around" the box.

I was worried about her laying in the water bowl, and plus she didnt like the egg box too much, so I just filled the entire tank up with sphagnum moss and took out the egg box... I spoke 2 Kathy Love 2day and she said that everything is fine and that unless shes opaque, dont really worry... (I CANT BELEIVE I SPOKE TO HER! I felt so honored! She is an incredibly sweet person! ) I hope I am 1/4 as successful as she is...

hey magicwhiper
your snakes look fab i love your baby snow Chloe I've totally fallen in love with her.
My amel had her pre-lay shed last night, yippee!!!!
If she's burying in her moss big clue, mine always sits at the bottom of her moss tank before she lays.
good luck!!!!

well, shes been doing that for 3 days now... today is the 14th day since her shed and I am getting sooo worried... Also, I did pick her up 2day, to see if I could still feel the egg bumps and I only counted 7-8.. last week I thought I counted somewhere like 12... but I am not 100% sure... neway, if she doesnt lay by tomorrow I think I will take her to a rep vet... I wonder how much this will cost ...??

oh, btw, thank you.
The clutch that I am expecting should be all snows, unless she bred with my kistache... Im not sure, (they were together for a week, but I never actually saw them copulating...so, ) neway, I am going 2 be selling mostly all of them, (Im only keeping 1 male. (if there are ne, last year there were only fems))... 2 babies are on hold already, but the rest are up for grabs (whenever she has them, that is)

I wouldn't keep handling her cos that will stress her out, and as far as i know guessing the amount of eggs by holding her or feeling her is soo in accurate, in my experience you can just never tell.
Good luck keep us posted.

took her 2 the vet 2day and he said that she would b just fine... he is a wonderful vet... he suggested that he could get the oxytocin, to start the process, but he said, that in his exp. that more often then not, the babies tend to die. So he said, that she is doing fine, and that since she had a successful clutch last year, this one should b just fine as well... So, just wait, even if she goes opaque again, which he thinks she wont... so... oh, and he counted about 5 eggs,(thats where he decided to stop, cuz she was stressing) but he said that he was uncertain exactly how many there were. Plus, he said to bathe her back end every day to stimluate her... so from here on, I just have to let nature take its course...

I know it's difficult, but leaving her alone will probably help. I learned the hard way earlier this season that some females don't like to be bothered. By the time my female laid, she had held onto the eggs too long and all I got were slugs. Give her a few days of no handling. Just peek at her once or twice a day to see if she's laid. I bet that will help. Good luck!
