Great Falls VA herps

A friend of my daughter went to Great Falls on the Potomac River just a few miles northwest of Washington D.C. and sent her these pics.
The terrain is rocky rivershore, with cliffs and isolated pools of water.
It's a little surprising to see these pictures, the area attracts a lot of human beings. I guess the snakes just deal with it.
I'm pretty sure the bluegill eating picture is a Brown Water Snake.

Hummm... maybe I should walk over there more often. Why is it when something is in our backyard we never go but others will travels miles to see it?
