Green spot under belly.

My butter male has a greenish spot under his belly. I spoke to the breeder (since I got him 4 - 5 days ago) and he said it was feces that hasnt been passed yet. I looked a day later and there was his stool on the paper towels. I checked under his belly and the greenish spot was still there. I dont know what it could be, and I plan to feed him tomorrow. Hopefully he will eat but for now I hope the greenish spot isnt bad. Tanks temps are 87 and 77 hot and cold. Any ideas to what this may be?

With butters and all light colored snakes you may be able to see the organs through their bellies. Just because you have feces in the tank doesn't mean it's all gone either. They can poo many times after a feeding. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, but more experienced keepers may have another opinion. Welcome to the forums! :spinner:

On a seperate note......

You might want to bring those temps down about 5 degrees.

I turned the heat down in my room so now his tanks temp is 82 hot 72 cold. i attempted to feed him today and he inhaled his pinky :crazy02: (i love it when my new guys eat on their first try). Im still worried about that greenish spot. could it be an infection? ill try to take a pic and upload it as soon as i can. thanks guys!

My snow is so transparent that I've always been able to see spots where her organs are. I doubt it's something serious.

If somehow my snake had internal parasites would it eat? because he seems like a pretty healthy corn. whenever he sees me he hides etc. etc. ate well.. hopefully im just being really paranoid, but what symptoms should i look out for to see if he really is sick?

Hey fuzz I thought my snow had a problem also. i took it to the vet and he said the green blob I saw, toward the lower portion of the body, was the gall bladder. Nothing to worry about. I felt like a dork, but hey at least I know now.

what a relief. thanks guys. homer is doing good btw, he's eating well on frozen thawed pinkie but still a little shy . Had him for a whole week now! :)

The spleen, pancreas and gall bladder are all located right there. It does sounds like this is what you are seeing.

These can be seen in butters, snows, blizzards, opals, amels, etc

Hope that helps a bit!

It is most likely the gall bladder. The gall bladder is one of the organs that helps in the digestion of food. If I am correct...it is the one that produce the bile which is distributed to the stomach when food is present. Someone correct me if I am wrong. I have too noticed this green spot on my butters and snows...some of my amels as babies I have seen it there too.

I'm guessing those are Homer's organs, btw when I handled him earlier today, I was checking for the green spot, and it wasn't there. I guess since hes eating well maybe you'll stop seeing the organs as much? Whatever it may be, Homer is living nicley. He isn't THAT shy any more and when I wake up in the morning I always see him up and about (his tank is on my table next to my bed).
