Guard for fluorescent light?

I'm planning to replace my spot lamp with a ceramic bulb (in a guard of course).

That leaves my 15" UVB fluorescent light as the only light source. At present this bulb does not have a guard. I've rarely used it thus far so I haven't worried about it.

My question is:

Do I need a guard on my fluorescent light?

Any suggestions?

I would say probably not but it is better to be safe than sorry. I have a really small tube that I have put in an old juice bottle as a guard which works well. But it is really small. You could easily build a guard out of perspex though. Or buy a sealed fitting like you get in bathrooms.
 
Lighting isn't really nececary anyway. But if you want the light in, I don't think flourescant tubes produce much in the way of heat. But as shrimply said, better safe than sorry ;)
