Gunn - Sunglow Striped Motley

Well, the poor tyke finally has a name. Instinct tells me that it's probably a male... long tail that doesn't taper and the subcaudal count was 71... so he'll get another name if he's a she.. but since luck seems to find me with males, not females, I'm guessing that this is yet another male.... make note to self NOT to buy any more males....

This thing just doesn't want to put weight on... bought him in Dec at 6ozs and he's only up to 8oz. Moving him to a four day feed schedule.

Two days prior to shed (feeding day of course):

Whats your reasoning behind the name? I'm asking because that just happens to be my last name.

LOL I love all things Scottish and I've been hoping to find a Scotman in my woodpile somewhere... with the last names Johnson & Wilson intermingling quite a bit in the South, and with them supposedly being septs of the Clan Gunn... I figure that's my best bet. Of course, when those damn Yankees went through the South, first thing they did was destroy court houses, so genealogy is a bit of a struggle for those lines.

I've been tossing names around for months, but suddenly as I looked at the pictures a minute ago.. Gunn (as in Clan Gunn) popped in my head and so it came to be... :)

Awww he/she is so cute. Love the pattern too. :)

Thanks Becky :) He's a full sibling to the one that escaped over a year ago. Different clutch, but same parents. Both parents are Sunglow Motleys and of the three eggs that survived the end of November (new owners of the pair didn't know they had been together, let alone that she was gravid) all three were SunGlow Motleys. So don't think there are any hets there :)

He is so adorable, he'll be a stunner when he grows up :)

Best wishes,

Thanks Susie :) For someone who doesn't like orange snakes, I sure do seem to have a lot of them :shrugs: I'm thinking I should get a stripe for him.... make for a lively clutch, I would think :)

Mmmm stripey orange snakes, that sounds like a great idea :)

My Female Sunglow Motley would probably like a date with him in the future, but I don't think she'd like the swim across the pond first :grin01:

Maybe a female like this would make a nice pairing--

Thanks :) And I know he comes by it honestly as his three siblings had patterns almost identical to them. I don't have any of Tessa on this computer, but I'll have to find them on my other computer and post them. She, I got cheap because the store owner didn't know any better, but now he does and he had so much interested in them, that he went out and bought the parents, so will be getting lots more from them... but I think a stripe would be much better than another motley :) Then I might get some of both :D

What a gorgious looking little guy!!love the pattern!hope he starts throwing on the weight for you...really good metabolism maybe!:)

LOL It would seem so... that's why I'm going to try putting him on a 4 day feeding schedule instead of 5-6 day. He's growing length-wise, but not not outrageously fast to be using everything up. I need for him to get a little bigger before I can push him anything better...sigh...

btw Thank you for the compliments :D

Hey, that's pretty cool! I knew there was a Gunn clan but beyond that I'm sorry to say I'm clueless.
