Haba hut/heating pad

When you have a lamp and a heating pad, your supposed to have one side warm and one side colder right? Is the haba hut supposed to stay on the warm side or on the cooler side?

By hubba hut do you mean Hide?

I have 3 hides in each of my vivs, But minimum is one at each end i think, so the snake has somewhere to curl up & be able to move to which end of the viv he wants,

Yes I mean hide. The house that they go into to curl up and hide in.

What exactly is a viv? I only have one in my tank now with just a water bowl on the other end. I only have a 20 gallon (which I'm upgrading soon; I'm going to throw a new corn in there. Probably a snow :p). My setup is actually pretty basic. I have his bedding, the heatpad on the left, the lamp on the left, habba hut on the left, and the water bowl on the right. That makes up his entire cage.

"Viv" stands for "Vivarium." A dictionary will tell you exactly what that means.

One thing you should watch out for is overheating on the warm side. You have a heat pad and a lamp which means the temps are probably gonna get pretty high. Make sure you have a good thermometer to tell you what the exact temp is.

Also, you should add one more hide in your viv. Put it on the cool side. This way your snake can choose to hide under the warm hide or cool hide (Whatever he's more comfortable with at the time).

I have a therm in there now that seems to work well. It should go one inch above the bottom of the warm side right?

Well, you first should think of getting 2 thermometers. One to measure the temp. on the warm and the cool side. I'm assuming you have the stick-on thermometers and if I'm right, I would think about changing to a digital one. I recently picked up a thermometer/hygrometer and it is very accurate. I can make sure it doesn't get too hot or too cold. And as far as the placement of the thermometers, you want to stick them in the substrate, because that is where the snake spends most of its time.
