Hallowe'en Night

Kiss My Hearse
This is how I dressed to hand out candy. Kids thought the snake was real. It was too cold to bring out any real snakes, but next year I think I'll be inside with snakes, looking out through the window. I did that before and it was a hit.

Nice! Halloween with a reptile (real or fake) is always fun. I did it last year and the year before... The reactions are always so funny, and so all over the board--one person will be horrified, and the next will be cooing and gooing.

I remember one Halloween, a couple years ago now, I handed out candy with a 4' boa around my neck (inside, of course; that icky cold, wet washington weather is no good for the scaly babies). It was definitely a hit. A couple highlights of the night included a trio of 8 year olds who held the boa for a few minutes, cooed and gooed, and all decided they would have pet snakes someday (and stood at my door asking questions for maybe 10 minutes, lol); and a couple teachers from my old high school guessing whose house it was based solely on a kid running back to the street yelling excitedly about the "REAL SNAKE!"

This year was kind of a bummer. I guess no trick-or-treaters bother coming down my street (there's only 2 or 3 houses), so not a single one came to my door. Instead I sat around, watched Hocus Pocus (DYK Binks was played by the same guy who plays Mcgee on NCIS?), and ate all the candy by myself (uurrgh... reeses coma!). :p

We took the kids out trick or treating, My son dressed up as a Jedi Knight and my daughter as a little vampire. I was ganna dress up with them but I didnt feel real good (The kids gave me both "Hand foot and mouth" and pink eye at the same time haha) so I just dressed normal and me and my wife took turns walking with them while the other sat in the car and fallowed.

For those who dont know hand foot and mouth gives you these sores that hurt to the touch, and is very uncommon for adults to get it. BUt ya go figure I would be the one out of like 100 that get it lol. I have these sores on my hand and the bottoms of my feet, so walking hurt. Im almost over it now though.

The kids had fun though. My son eventually left his toy light saber in the car so he could just hold his bucket, we got to this house and this guy standing in the corner was dressed in all black and had face paint like Darth Maul. I pointed at him and said "O look, you should have brought your light saber" the guy started chuckling but my son was to worried about getting his candy to care about the heavy set Sith standing in the corner haha. As we walked off the guys wife looked at him and said "You better not scare those little babies" but I dont think he was even going to or he would have when I pointed him out to my son.

O ya, it was also 20F and we had snow on the ground too when we went out,but the kids sure had fun.

The weather never stopped us from trick or treating in Anchorage. It came with the territory. :)

Haha, ya 20F isnt that cold compared to what it CAN be. I remember one year it was -30F on halloween. But with a 2 and 5 year old an hour and a half was enough for them. Im sure as they get older though they will want to stay out longer.

They did get quite a bit of candy though, I think a lot of it had to do with how little they were compared to most of the other kids out there that night.
